Are you interested in gaining hands-on archival experience? Join the Bruin Archives Project (BAP)!
We will be holding an orientation meeting in YRL after IS 200 on Tuesday, November 27th at 5pm with Charlotte Brown, the University Archivist, in order to give a brief overview of the project and discuss the fascinating archival opportunities available this year. The meeting will last about an hour, and we will meet outside the University Archives, located on the 2nd floor of YRL (Room 21560).
The Bruin Archives Project is an effort to collect and build student group archives here at UCLA. The project offers a number of exciting opportunities from consulting and appraising the records of student groups to creating finding aids that will be viewable on the Online Archive of California (OAC). In fact, the project was recently highlighted in the article “Representation through Documentation: Acquiring Student and Campus Life Records through the Bruin Archives Project,” published in the American Archivist (volume 75, no.1 (2012): 205-224).
Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org so that we can get get an estimate of expected attendees. If you cannot make this meeting but are interested in participating in the project, please let me know!
