SCA, NARA, CHRAB, and the California State Archives, Office of the Secretary of State are all sponsors of this year’s California Archives Month during which cultural heritage institutions and associations are encouraged to host and participate in engagements that celebrate the value of California’s records and artifacts.
This year’s theme is “Celebrating a Century of Women’s Suffrage”.
“This year, we mark the centennial of women’s suffrage in California, which was the result of a special election held on October 9, 1911. Additional measures on that special election ballot created the initiative, referendum and recall process that gave Californians the ability to enact laws, amend the State Constitution, reverse actions of the Legislature, and remove elected officials from office.”
– Brad Bauer – President, Society of California Archivists.
